The Hikvision DS-2CFSP8-D/4G combines two independent camera channels in one security system, providing both wide-area monitoring and flexible surveillance of moving subjects.

The first camera features a 2.8mm fixed wide-angle lens, designed to continuously observe a broad area. This provides a stable overview of entrances, driveways, farm compounds, parking areas and other important locations.

The second camera features a 4mm motorized pan-and-tilt lens, allowing users to remotely adjust its viewing direction. This makes it possible to inspect different parts of the monitored environment without physically repositioning the camera.

Each camera channel supports 4MP resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels, delivering detailed footage for everyday security monitoring. By combining fixed and movable surveillance, the system offers greater flexibility than a conventional single-lens camera.

Always-On Video Technology for 24/7 Security Monitoring

One of the most important features of this camera is Hikvision’s Always-On Video (AOV) technology. Conventional battery-powered security cameras often rely primarily on motion-triggered recording to conserve energy. Consequently, activity occurring between detection events may not be recorded.

Hikvision’s AOV technology addresses this limitation through an energy-efficient recording approach that supports continuous visual coverage.

The system can use low-power recording between events and increase recording activity when relevant movement is detected, depending on the configured operating mode. This is especially beneficial for remote properties where security monitoring is required throughout the day and night.

AOV operation should not be confused with uninterrupted full-frame-rate recording. Battery life and recording performance depend on the selected settings, available sunlight, temperature, mobile network conditions and frequency of detected events.

Solar-Powered Operation for Off-Grid Installations

The camera is designed for locations where conventional electrical power may be unavailable, unreliable or expensive to install. Its solar-powered configuration uses an 8W monocrystalline solar panel and a 9,000mAh rechargeable lithium battery.

During daylight hours, the solar panel converts sunlight into electrical energy to help charge the battery. Stored energy then powers the surveillance system when sunlight is unavailable. This arrangement reduces the need for electrical cabling and makes installation practical in remote locations.

4G LTE Connectivity Without Fixed Internet

The Hikvision DS-2CFSP8-D/4G supports cellular connectivity through a compatible Nano SIM card. This allows the camera to transmit surveillance data using a mobile network rather than relying on fibre, Wi-Fi or a conventional wired internet connection.

Once the camera is configured with an active SIM card and sufficient mobile data, users can access supported remote monitoring functions through Hik-Connect. Depending on the configuration, these functions can include live viewing, playback of recordings, event notifications and camera control.

The EU version supports LTE bands B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B20 and B28. However, users should confirm compatibility with their preferred mobile operator before installation. For installations in Kenya, the camera is particularly useful in rural locations where mobile data coverage is available but fixed broadband infrastructure is limited.

Intelligent Human and Vehicle Detection

The camera supports Motion Detection 2.0 with intelligent human and vehicle classification. Unlike basic motion detection systems that respond to virtually any movement, intelligent classification helps distinguish people and vehicles from other sources of movement.

This can reduce unnecessary notifications caused by environmental activity such as moving vegetation or changes in lighting. The technology is especially useful for monitoring entrances, driveways, parking areas, farms and construction sites. Users can configure detection settings according to their surveillance requirements.

Automatic Person Tracking

The motorized pan-and-tilt camera supports intelligent tracking of people. When a relevant target is detected, the PT camera can automatically adjust its viewing direction to follow the person’s movement within its mechanical and configured tracking limits. This provides an additional level of surveillance compared with a fixed camera that cannot change its viewing direction.

Meanwhile, the separate fixed wide-angle camera can continue providing an overview of the monitored scene. Automatic tracking is particularly useful for following movement around entrances, building compounds and other open areas. Tracking performance depends on factors such as distance, visibility, target movement and the configured detection settings.

Motorized Pan and Tilt for Flexible Viewing

The camera’s movable channel provides a horizontal movement range of approximately 340° and a vertical tilt range of 80°. Users can adjust the camera’s viewing direction remotely through compatible software.

This makes it possible to inspect different parts of the monitored property without installing additional fixed cameras in every direction.

The PT channel uses a fixed 4mm lens. Therefore, it does not provide motorized optical zoom, even though the product is sometimes marketed as a PTZ camera.

Smart Hybrid Light Night Vision up to 30 Metres

The camera features Smart Hybrid Light technology, combining infrared and white light illumination. Infrared illumination supports discreet black and white surveillance in darkness, while white light can provide colour nighttime images under suitable conditions.

Depending on the configured mode, the camera can use infrared illumination for routine monitoring and activate white light when relevant activity is detected. The illumination range is specified at up to 30 metres. Actual nighttime image quality depends on installation height, subject distance, environmental conditions and the available lighting.

Two Way Audio Communication

The Hikvision DS-2CFSP8-D/4G includes a built-in microphone and speaker. These components support two-way audio communication through compatible monitoring software. Users can listen to sounds around the camera and speak remotely to visitors or individuals within the monitored area. This feature is particularly useful for communicating with security personnel, responding to unexpected visitors or addressing suspicious activity at remote properties.

Intelligent Tracking and Wide-Area Monitoring in One Device

The dual-lens configuration provides an important advantage over conventional single-lens surveillance cameras. The fixed 2.8mm camera can maintain a consistent view of the monitored area, while the movable 4mm camera can focus on activity elsewhere in the scene.

Efficient H.265 Video Compression

The camera supports H.265 video compression, helping reduce recording file sizes and network bandwidth requirements compared with older compression methods under comparable conditions. However, actual data consumption depends on video resolution, recording mode, frame rate, bitrate, frequency of events and remote viewing activity.

Local MicroSD Recording

The camera supports microSD storage of up to 512GB. This allows footage to be stored locally without requiring a conventional network video recorder. Recording behaviour depends on the configured AOV and event-recording modes.

For remote installations, local storage can help reduce reliance on continuous transmission of video over the mobile network. A compatible high-endurance microSD card is recommended for surveillance applications involving frequent recording.

Outdoor Surveillance for Remote Environments

The Hikvision DS-2CFSP8-D/4G is designed for outdoor security monitoring. Its solar-powered architecture and cellular connectivity make it particularly useful in locations where conventional wired CCTV installations are difficult or impractical.

The system can be mounted to monitor building entrances, farm compounds, livestock facilities, remote warehouses, parking areas and temporary project sites. For best performance, installers should consider solar-panel positioning, cellular signal strength, mounting stability and the intended detection area.
