The Hikvision DS-3E1106P-EI/M is designed to simplify network connectivity and power distribution for IP surveillance systems. It combines intelligent switching functions with Power over Ethernet technology, allowing compatible devices to receive data and electrical power through a single Ethernet cable.

As a result, installers can reduce cabling requirements and simplify CCTV deployment. Furthermore, its smart management capabilities help maintain network performance and identify connection problems.

Four PoE Ports and Two Uplink Ports

The switch features four 10/100Mbps PoE ports for connecting compatible IP cameras, wireless access points and other PoE-powered devices. Additionally, two separate 10/100Mbps RJ45 ports provide connections to network video recorders, routers or other network switches. Therefore, users can establish a small surveillance network without requiring separate power adapters for every compatible camera.

45W PoE Power Budget

The Hikvision DS-3E1106P-EI/M supports IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet standards. Each PoE port can supply up to 30W, subject to the switch’s combined 45W power budget.

Consequently, users should calculate the total power requirements of connected devices before installation to avoid exceeding the available power capacity.

Intelligent PoE Watchdog

The integrated PoE watchdog helps detect connected cameras that become unresponsive. When supported and configured, the switch can automatically restart the affected PoE port, helping restore camera operation without requiring immediate manual intervention. This feature is particularly useful for CCTV installations where continuous camera availability is important.

Long Range PoE Transmission Up to 300 Metres

The Hikvision DS-3E1106P-EI/M supports extended PoE transmission distances of up to 300 metres on ports 1–4 under suitable conditions. This makes it useful for surveillance cameras installed farther away from the main networking equipment.

However, actual transmission distance depends on cable quality, connected device requirements and network conditions. Extended transmission modes may also reduce available data speeds.

Smart VLAN Network Management

The switch supports IEEE 802.1Q VLAN functionality, allowing network administrators to organize network traffic into separate logical segments.

For example, CCTV camera traffic can be separated from other network services where the installation requires additional network segmentation.

Furthermore, port isolation provides another method of controlling communication between connected devices.

STP/RSTP Loop Prevention

The switch supports Spanning Tree Protocol and Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol to help prevent network loops. As a result, administrators can improve network stability and reduce disruptions caused by incorrect or redundant network connections.

Intelligent Cable Detection

Cable detection helps technicians identify certain network cable faults, including abnormal connections. Consequently, troubleshooting becomes easier, particularly when maintaining multiple CCTV camera connections.

The Hikvision DS-3E1106P-EI/M includes 6kV surge protection designed to improve resistance to electrical surges. However, appropriate grounding, cabling and additional surge protection may still be necessary depending on the installation environment.
