Ubiquiti PoE Power Adaptor 48V 802.3af (U-POE-AF)

The Ubiquiti U-PoE+ is a compact PoE power adapter designed to supply both network connectivity and electrical power to a compatible network device through Ethernet cabling.

Instead of installing a separate power cable near an access point or other supported device, you can place the U-PoE+ close to your router or network switch and deliver power through the Ethernet cable.

This makes installation cleaner and is particularly useful when installing wireless access points in ceilings, walls or other areas where AC power sockets are not readily available.

Up to 30W PoE+ Power

The U-PoE+ provides an output of: 48V DC @ 0.65A. This corresponds to approximately 30W maximum output power. Ubiquiti positions this model as its 30W PoE+ adapter. This gives it considerably more power capacity than the smaller Ubiquiti U-PoE-af adapter, which outputs 48V at 0.32A.

Gigabit Ethernet Support

The adapter includes a Gigabit Ethernet LAN connection, allowing compatible devices to maintain Gigabit network connectivity while receiving power. This is particularly important for modern UniFi access points, where using an older 100Mbps injector could create a network bottleneck.

How the U-PoE+ Connects

The adapter has two shielded RJ45 connections: Data In: Connect this port to your router, network switch or other Ethernet source. PoE Out: Connect this port to the compatible PoE-powered device. The connection therefore looks like: Router/Switch → U-PoE+ Data In → U-PoE+ PoE Out → Access Point/PoE Device. Only the connection between the adapter and powered device carries the injected power.

2-Pair Powering

The U-PoE+ uses 2-pair powering. Ubiquiti specifies the power pin assignment as:

Pins 4 & 5: Positive (+)
Pins 7 & 8: Negative (-)

It does not use four-pair powering.

Wide AC Input Range

The U-PoE+ accepts 100–240V AC at 50/60Hz. This wide input range makes the adapter suitable for standard mains supplies in many countries, including Kenya’s nominal 240V supply. The adapter uses an IEC-320 C6 AC connector, and Ubiquiti lists the power cable as included.

Built-In Electrical Protection

Ubiquiti includes several protection features to help protect connected network equipment. The U-PoE+ provides differential and common-mode surge protection, with a maximum power surge discharge rating of 1500A (8/20 μs). Its data-side peak pulse current is rated at 36A (10/1000 μs), with a response time of less than 1 nanosecond.  This protection is useful for network installations where electrical disturbances could otherwise affect connected equipment.

Efficient Power Conversion

Ubiquiti specifies approximately 87% efficiency for the U-PoE+. Output ripple is rated at a maximum of 1%, line regulation at ≤3%, and load regulation at ≤5%.  These specifications help the adapter provide stable power to compatible network equipment.
