Jakemy JM-468 Network Cable Tester
The Jakemy JM-468 is a simple network cable tester designed to help you check the connectivity and pin-out of Ethernet (RJ45) and telephone (RJ11) cables before installation or during troubleshooting. Itâs especially useful for network technicians, installers, and DIYers.
Features
Cable Types Supported:
RJ45 (Ethernet network cables, e.g., Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6)
RJ11/RJ12 (telephone and smaller-connector cables)
Continuity & Wire Mapping:
The tester checks if each wire inside the cable is properly connected from one end to the other. The LED lights indicate whether each of the 8 (plus ground) conductors is continuous.LED Indicators:
LEDs light up sequentially to show proper connections. If the sequence is broken or out of order, the cable is miswired or faulty.Power:
Uses a 9 V battery (typically not included) for operation.Remote Unit Included:
The tester has a main unit and a detachable remote unit â great for testing installed cables where ends are far apart.
What It Can Detect
This type of cable tester helps diagnose the following common issues:
â Open circuits (wire not connected)
â Short circuits (wires touching)
â Crossed or swapped pairs (incorrect pin-to-pin alignment)
â Miswired cables (wrong connections between ends)
How It Works
Insert one end of the cable into the main testerâs RJ45/RJ11 jack and the other end into the remote unit.
Switch on the tester.
Watch LED lights cycle from 1 to 8 (plus G if shield is present).
Matching light sequences on main and remote mean the cable is wired correctly.
Mismatched, missing, or out-of-order lights indicate faults.
Use Cases
Verify new Ethernet patch cables before installation
Troubleshoot issues in existing network cabling runs
Check telephone or low voltage data lines
Identify wiring problems in DIY cabling projects
